Some Neighbourhood Restaurants Up to my Likings

They are in the list because: -

#moderate pricing
#comfy atmosphere
#delicious food
#good service (courteous, i mean)
#hygienic
#located strategically near your house

1) Bulgogi BBQ House (Korean) @ The Strands Kota Damansara

*i was the loyal customer already since its opening, thank to my ex-boss, David Yap. Judy the lady boss of this restaurant runs it with her husband and she used to be an English teacher. the tie is knot when David's daughter, the super Korean culture fans started to learn Korean from Judy.

*i never know if the bbq is really good but i love the other dishes on the menu. some of my all time favourites are kimchi pancake, mackerel, ginseng chicken soup etc.

*the little dishes that are served before meal are very appetizing. it comes with something with a nice pineapple sauce (i love the sauce so much that i don't remember what it was to go with), nice omelette, nice seaweed etc. most friends love the sweetened fried anchovies.

*alcohol available, especially the Korean rice wines and shochus.

2) Bravo (Italian) @ Damansara Perdana

*it was a coincident when i visited the place after a month of its opening, turned out i go back to it in less than a month, considering i was quite immobile that time with the job i was having.

*mushroom rice was my first attempt and ever since that, i'm so in love with it. the short grain rice and the mixed herbs used to lift up the dish is just so simple and taste so mild that its like your mum's cooking. other than that, i brought friends there a few times and we tried almost everything in the menu except for pizza.

*beef is not that excellent but i never blame because one can't expect much at that pricing. lamb is quite good. lasagna is nice. pasta is nice. soup is not really good. salad is nice (i'm definitely not a salad person, so u know how to judge).

*it only sells beer but corkage is free of charge. you just don't be so picky over the glasses they served and it is alright.

3) I'm Spicy (Thai) @ Section 17 PJ

*a friend brought me there turned out one of the operators is my ex-colleague, Mel. and because the food is really nice, so i have to recommend my other foodie friends. fyi, the chef is a Thai lady, Mel's sister-in-law.

*compared to restaurants above, i must admit that the pricing is slightly higher. but compared to my favourite Thai restaurant, Erawan, its like having a 40-50% discount. you know you can't always visit such eatery, can u?

*Mel said its all Thai street food, no frills is the concept and they are trying to bring in more in the menu, hoping the customers could be more adventurous. i must say they did a good job in that. the marination, the meat, the cooking style, the preparation and all that, they are very sincere in their business.

*i don't really remember the menu but most of them are nice, except i had bad experience over the steamed fish but its okay, the next time they made it up well. i love the house drink, that one, of all, must try.

*beer is available, up to my last visit, not other liquor, corkage is charged at a very standard rate but i really forgot how much. anyway, its at an acceptable price range. you know, just talk to Mel.

4) Honkee Porridge @ Metro Perdana Kepong

*the old one is in Petaling Street and i rediscovered it in Lot 10 but dislike the atmosphere there. later i found out this outlet and think it suits my appetite in every aspect.

*the claypot frog porridge is one of the most popular items. i like it too. but i still prefer the raw fish slice with century egg. however, these are just to compliment the main highlight here -- porridge. its the Guang Dong style porridge, unlike the Teow Chew style, but i love both.

*one can hardly finish the whole portion, frankly speaking. if u tend to get more sides then i suggest a sharing of the main. but if u want to focus on the porridge so much, go ahead, bon appetite.
